Notable news from the past weeks
The VSU Department of Food Science and Technology (DFST) launched a webinar on egg safety and nutrition. High school alumni Mark Michael Unlu-cay and Ms. Ea Kristine Clarisse Tulin speak at the VSU-IHS graduation ceremonies. VSU snags the 19th spot in the recent July 2021 Webometrics rankings. VSU Alangalang is set to erect their 20M 2-storey admin building, along with the second phase of their gym. Nippon’s 3rd ranked Nagoya University finalizes a substation installment at VSU.
An egg-zellent webinar from Food Tech
Did you know that eggs are one of the healthiest yet inexpensive foods within your reach? Two food experts discussed egg safety and nutrition: our very own #ProudViscan, Mr. Jonap J. Borlado, who heads food safety and quality management in Talabat, in Bahrain, and Mrs. Naana Akua Anana Adjei, an award-winning dietician from University of Ghana.
Making a Mark
In the 6th Promotional Exercises of VSU-IHS, Regent and high school alumnus Mark Michael Unlu-cay shared his compelling life story to the 115 completers. On the virtual event that was held on July 28, 2021, he also revealed how he turned the tides of his life to his lifelong aim to ‘Make a mark out of everything.’
Aim for the sky and bring the country forth
This embodied Ms. Ea Kristine Clarisse Tulin’s commencement message to the 101 SHS graduates of the 4th Graduation Ceremony of the VSU-IHS. Broadcasted live on the VSU official Facebook page last August 6, Ms. Tulin highlighted 5 key tips that were instrumental in her journey to success.
A comeback to the top
VSU once again stays afloat in recent rankings. In the latest edition of the Webometrics ranking issued July 2021, VSU managed to secure the 19th spot despite having plunged to 27th place back in January 2021. A cumulative improvement of the university’s continuous global visibility in research production.
A new façade for VSU Alangalang
The continued growth of our component colleges also translate to a development in facilities and infrastructure. VSU Alangalang will now start the construction of their P20-M 2-storey admin building that will become the new centerpiece of their campus.
Japan’s extending hand
The 3rd in rank Japanese powerhouse university, Nagoya University (NU) has finalized its establishment of their International Station for Tropical Agricultural Sciences (ISTAS) that outreaches neighboring countries. UPLB and VSU are the only 2 ISTAS recipient universities in the Philippines, UPLB as the main station, and VSU its substation.

We are currently holding a series of onboardings with our faculty and students.
The Faculty Onboarding is on its third and last day, broadcast internally on VSU’s work platform. Then there will be three more days of onboarding sessions for newly hired faculty.
The two-day Student Onboarding will start tomorrow and will be broadcast live on VSU’s Facebook page.
